I got a call from my OB's office on Wednesday, telling me that I needed to go to a different location for my appointment on Thursday. This ruined my day. Going to the Dublin office means a quick stop at my chiropractor (needed after Texas), a visit to my favorite cupcake shop, and a desperate need to stop at my ink-cartridge refilling place.
So we make the longer trip to the Columbus office, and stop at the ink place down there to find it not open yet. We go to the OB's office to find out that it wasn't this appointment that they were supposed to tell me had moved, it was a month from now. So not only are we at the wrong place, but we have to do this all again in a month. We get our 10 minutes in with the nurse practitioner, instead of my OB who is up in Dublin, where I wanted to be. I grumpily buy some orange juice and something sweet from the cafe downstairs, and curse the name of the woman that called me the day before. "You made me miss my cupcake!! Why!!!" On a related note, I passed my gestational diabetes test with flying colors. :)
This whole ordeal really ruined my day.

Week 28
We had an eventful weekend. Started off with a 3-hour trip to Labor & Delivery on Friday night. Bambino is just fine, just something about me that we were a little worried about. The doctor reassured us that we did the right thing, and I'm feeling better every day.
Saturday morning we had an ultrasound scheduled. Due to my lack of complications thus far (yay!), our OB could not assure us that we'd get another ultrasound in office, paid by insurance. So we went to a local place that does ultrasounds for an incredible rate, just to see how Bambino is doing. We got about 15 minutes of watching our little girl (still a girl!) on the screen, some new measurements (2 lbs. 11 ounces; 15 inches), new pictures, and even a VHS and DVD of the session!
She looks more like a baby than ever before. She was drinking amniotic fluid, with her little tongue coming out to taste, and kept smacking her lips like it was good! :) It was very cute and very real.

What are you DOING in there?
So I've started to get a clue about Bambino's positioning. I can tell the difference between a kick and a punch, and if she's doing both around the same time, I can deduce how she may be hanging out in there. I think she likes to be sideways.
But then last night, in my usual belly-stalking, I saw some different movement. I swear it looked like she was sticking her butt out on on side of my belly button. There was this mound that kept poking up. I'd poke back and it was round and hard. It was bigger than an appendage, and on the side that Bambino's feet are usually on. I called Chris in to see and he thought it was funny too, seeing my belly all lopsided.
Pregnancy is fun. I get to have so much interaction with my child before she's even here!

A clarification....
Due to *ahem* someone's feeling that I threw him under the bus, I will clarify the previous post. He does not need to exercise, for the sake of weight, only to keep me motivated and to increase his overall personal health. For confirmation of this, please see pictures of his skinny self in the archives.
Bambino's new nickname?
I think I shall call her "Cupcake". I swear I was not this obsessed about cupcakes before I was pregnant, and now I have between 2-5 a month. Everytime we go for a OB appt, I stop at my favorite cupcakery and get a reward for my efforts. They know me by sight now, and ask how we're doing.
But now I'm wondering if God wants me to stop eating cupcakes?
There were two segments on tv today about cupcakes that I had to watch with the sound off, because a provider called and would not stop talking about trivial stuff. I'd feel better about it if it were a client who was in need or something, but this really makes me sad.
I think it's a sign? No more cupcakes? A better sign would have been to fail my 1-hr gestational diabetes test. But I didn't! Woohoo!
I guess I'm getting all the cupcake-ness out of my system now, because I plan to go on the healthy-plan to end all healthy-plans when this kid is out. Not a "diet", but a major change in behaviors. Wouldn't the husband be proud! Now if I could actually get him to exercise with me, we'll be all set.

Week 27
No news is good news, right? Nothing much going on in the Bambino world. Waiting not-so patiently for the furniture, so we can start decorating the room. Baby shower invites are all on their way out, with some exciting times coming soon!
I'm still doing well. My hip goes funky when I push too hard any given day. I definitely have the "pregnant walk". I still try to make it to the chiropractor at least monthly when we head that direction to see our OB, more frequently when needed. I take naps when I can on the weekends.
Bambino does not always respond well to my sleepy-time. That's usually when she decides that it's play time. She kicks a lot, but even more unsettling at times is when she wiggles. It can make me a bit sea-sick! She moves and wiggles a LOT.

Third Trimester!
It's all a downhill slope to the finish line from here! We're hoping the baby stays for the final 13 weeks, but know that we need to be prepared for her arrival whenever SHE is ready. You know women... you can't tell them what to do if they have their mind set on something :)
But things have been going well, and I have no indication that they won't continue as such.
