This picture is hilarious. She's wearing 12 or 18 month pants simply for the length, and often they are rather big at the waist. She was playing pretty actively, and I guess they started sliding down.... :)

We won prizes!

No... not a cutest baby contest. I've entered 2 or 3, and apparently Amelia doesn't even crack the top 100 of cutest babies.
This was a contest put on by Shutterfly, along with the singer Andrea Bocelli. It was for his new CD "Incanto" (of course Chris already has it!), looking for entries that "portrayed the romance Andrea's music inspires".
The photo I submitted, taken by
Erica is the only one of the winners that showed that love extends to the next generation. The rest were boring couples. :)
We're in the 3rd place grouping, winning a copy of the CD and a shutterfly photo book!

Weekend Fun
On Saturday, we went to the OSU football spring game. I found a mini jersey on Craigslist the day before, and it was perfect for Amelia! She is a fan of this Brutus:
Ready to fight any Michigan fans!
Having fun with Daddy!
She had a great time at the game, with her friend Joey, Joey's parents, and Michelle and Kevin.
After, we went to Crew stadium to tailgate before the game there. But, alas, Amelia had to get home, so she and I left the party to go to bed.
This morning, we had Jenni http://jclphotography.blogspot.com/ come to our house to take Amelia's 1st birthday pictures. Jenni's husband, Jeff, tagged along to be her assistant/Amelia's entertainment/cat wrangler.
The pictures went GREAT! We took some inside and outside (in front of our neighbors' gorgeous tulips). Some of just Amelia and some of the family (Penny and Bella even got in a few!).
Here's a hint of how it ended.... [these were taken by me on my camera]
She didn't quite get into the cake smashing like she was supposed to. She kept sticking one finger in the frosting and just licking it, over and over. Finally, we smashed both hands into the cake for her. But then she just licked her hands.... oh well.
But it got quite entertaining towards the end when she wanted to crawl, play with the balloon, and yes.... sit on the cake. Mom did NOT steal the leftovers!
That's the poor cake under her bottom.

Terrific Thursday!
She hasn't picked them up in a few days. While it's funny to see her love for them, we're not going to remind them her of their existence, because it's always a struggle to get her to give them up. :)
Some beautiful pictures, in the midst of balloon-playing....
You can see how her hair is getting longer - especially on top and a thick section on each side. It's starting to get a good amount of curl to it.
Amelia is 12 days away from her 1st birthday! We do her 1 year pictures on Sunday and then her party is the following Saturday. I can't believe she'll be a year old so soon!
I have been working hard on a video that sums up her first year. Most of it will be pretty familiar to my faithful blog readers, but that's okay! After it debuts at the party, I'll upload it to youtube and share it here.

Weekend Update
That night her temp went up to 103, so we began adjusting our Saturday plans. Team Bambino for the MS Walk was bambino-less. Chris stayed home with her, while I met up with our other team members, Michelle and Carrie. Then, he took her to the Pediatrician to see what's up. Ped said that she does NOT have a stomach bug, because the diet changes would not result in that getting better, so good news there. She wasn't worried about the temp (as long as it is down by Monday), and just assumed that she was starting up a new cold. No other symptoms of a cold have come up, so I'm wondering if maybe she's just teething. Another option is that she's been exposed to Roseola, and it is possible to get that again. I guess we'll know if a rash pops up in a few days.
She was really pathetic yesterday. We ran one quick errand after meeting up after her appt/my walk (S&K Menswear going out of business - Chris got a nice suit for $89!), and she just clung to me, with her head on my shoulder. We spent the rest of the day at home, and all of today, as well.
Today, she's definitely not roasting like she was yesterday. We haven't taken her temp, but I'm estimating it's at least elevated - maybe between 99-101. But behaviorally, she's back to her normal self. Just check out the video below.

Good news, Chris fixed the video camera, so better quality videos are in your future! :)
Oh, and at the Ped's office yesterday, Amelia weighed in at 19 pounds!

Poor Amelia....
Today, she's home from the Sitter's - we're taking a sick day together. Something just keeps getting passed around there, and I guess Amelia's being blamed for it. So I'm hoping to get her back to normal over the 3-day weekend, so if there's issues there next week, it's not our fault! :)
Today, I'm picking up some soy formula. They say that digestive issues take longer to pass in an infant, because it's so new to their little bodies. If the dairy in the formula is the culprit for why her tummy is still rumbly, hopefully a change in formula will help.
Keep us in your thoughts/prayers!
Oh and THANK YOU to everyone that supported us in the MS Walk. Unless Amelia's a mess in the morning, we'll be Walking for so many people that need help. We've raised $145 so far, and our 3 teammates will each turn in at least $25 each in pledges tomorrow. Pledge center: http://walkoha.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR?px=2150189&pg=personal&fr_id=9561

Amelia's Newest Tricks
She's changing every single day.
Biggest Amelia tricks...
* Dancing. She does it all the time.
* Feeding us. She likes to hold out her finger foods towards our mouths, to allow us to share in the yumminess.
* Mimics. We make a noise or say a word, and she does her best to do the same. It's great! :)
* Extremely social. She thrives off of being around people and getting attention.
* Climbs over things when crawling. This includes tackling people and kitties.
* Lifts flaps on books. She loves to do this, especially with her Grandma and Grandpa books - she knows where the flaps are and how they go!
* Rising to a standing position without assistance. She just started doing this in the last couple of days. Mostly she just pulls or pushes to a standing position, but sometimes she can handle it without assistance. She can push up on soft/unsteady things, too.
* She's starting to get better about balance when standing. She can handle just one hand or a light touch to stay upright.
* She reaches for people she knows (and sometimes doesn't know!). She is awfully brave about going to people.
* She also thinks it's funny to get in mommy's arms and then reach for daddy; then get in daddy's arms and reach for mommy; repeating this over and over, while laughing
And the BEST ones....
* She responds to requests for kissies! She totally learned this on her own and it's adorable. She favors me with this one, and just lays one right on me. :)
* She's learning new words, probably more than we know, since it's up to us to pay attention and figure it out, since they don't always sound right. We just realized today that she kept saying something like "ditty tat" (kitty cat) or even sometimes just "cat" when she sees Penny and Bella. She called my parent's cat "ditty" too, but I didn't believe that she was making the connection, but of course she is! She still says "ducky" too, if you're lucky enough to catch it!
I love this kid. She's fun. She's bright. She's the light in our lives.

Only 3 more Mondays before Amelia turns 1! (::sniff::)
One last picture for today.... I love it - it looks like they're fighting!
Weekend Update
On Friday night, we went swimming with my brother's family for my niece's birthday. It was Amelia's first time in a regular swimming pool. She was hesitant at first....
.... but once she knew we weren't going to drop her and leave, she loved it!
She enjoyed time playing with Grandma and Grandpa
On Saturday, we went to TWO Easter egg hunts! She did great at both -- Chris just carried her from egg to egg and she picked them up on her own. The first was at the church that I grew up in, and the second was at the church that Grandma and Grandpa go to now.
On Easter morning, Amelia woke to find a huge haul from the Easter bunny (via mommy/daddy/grandparents)! She was quite spoiled and loved everything.
After church, we had lunch with the family... (minus a few members)
It was a great weekend.

Happy Easter!
I'll update later with pictures from the weekend, but she had a great time with all the stuff in her Easter baskets today, and going to 2 egg hunts yesterday.
Here's Amelia's Easter pictures from JcPenney:

In that last picture, she's wearing one of my old bonnets. :)

Summer's Coming!
On Friday, Amelia will have her first dip in a normal (non-baby) pool with her cousins. I hope that she likes it!
So we had to try on a couple of her new suits. What do you think? Does she look like a little summer baby?

11 Months Old!!
Wow, our little girl will be 1 year old in 30 days... how did that happen?? But she is getting more independent and active every day, so it all makes sense.
We went shopping for her big girl carseat, since she's finally outgrowing her infant one (height only). Wow, kind of an expensive venture. We got one today and we'll get another for the other car soon.
Working hard at planning her birthday party - 4 weeks from yesterday! We're really excited to share her big day with friends and family. :)
No official stats updates for this month. We go to her Pediatrician next month. Estimation is... about 19 pounds and 28.5 inches.
11 month birthday pics:
She didn't make it back home in this outfit. We had an interesting day. Perhaps something didn't agree with her tummy or something, and we went through 2 outfits while away from home today. I'll leave out details, but thing got a little messy on the lower end...
Outfit #3 we actually had to buy for her at a baby store, while we were looking at car seats. (Only keep 1 spare in diaper bag). Cute, huh?

Bold Baby
Her latest thing is to"surf" - standing up in her moving wagon, while holding on to the sides. Makes for an interesting wagon ride having to stop every few feet to pull her back down.
She's not afraid of people.... or people dressed as animals. As you see below, she loved the easter bunny. Last night in Delaware there were several mascots and other such human-sized animals for the First Friday event. One of Amelia's friends (14 months) was terrified, but Amelia loved them all.
She went to her backup sitter a couple of times last week. That sitter has 2 babies already (hence, her backup status). She said that she got out the vacuum and the other babies were cowering in the corner, while Amelia was chasing the vacuum around the room.
Another funny backup sitter anecdote -- She's also the only baby there that dances, but they think it's hilarious to put on music and have Amelia put on a show for them.
