Weekend Fun!

We had a nice weekend!

Friday night, Amelia picked up some finger paints from the store. So, of course, she had to test them out.

On Saturday, we spent some time with the Sundheim's and took part in their yard sale. Amelia, of course, enjoyed hanging out with her best buddy, Joey.

But mid-day, we went over to Yellow Springs to Youngs Dairy for cousin Victoria's FIRST birthday!!

Happy Birthday, V!

Face time with the birthday girl.

Hello Grandparents!

Amelia LOVED the goats [just like her mommy!!]. She got right up there with them, and wasn't afraid at all. She kept calling them "Doggie". :)

She also loved when the baby cows licked her hands, and enjoyed seeing ducks, too. She had a GREAT time.

And slept hard on the ride home.

Today, we had a lazy day. I'll post some pics from pool time tomorrow!

REALLY?

Really? Not a terribly overwhelming response to my contest announcement. Maybe the prize doesn't seem so great??

Well, here's some examples of her great work....

Abstract finger paints:

Lovely kangaroo:

Ladybug shaker:

and the abstract sunshiney loveliness that she made on Friday:

But for the prize winner, you are getting much more than something like the above. It's something useful!

10 days left! I will show off the prize in a couple of days.

Contest Time!!!!

Time for the 1st ever contest on the Fink Bambino site!

We have a LOT of traffic coming through this blog - people that know us and people that don't. We get a decent # of comments, typically from the same folks.

So, to bring out some of our non-commenting lurkers, in honor of my upcoming (*cough* 30th *cough*) birthday, we're going to have a give-away!

Amelia made a LOVELY piece of artwork (it's not just watercolors on paper - it's fancy!) that we're going to give away to 1 person that comments on this blog between now and June 9th. 12 days!

Comment on any post between now and then... I moderate all comments, so I will add your name to the list that I will draw from on the 9th! Comment as often as you wish, but only 1 comment will count per person. :)

Good luck everyone!

Routine/ Eating Update

Weekday schedule....

Morning is pretty simple. She eats first thing, gets dressed, and then a little snack downstairs (cheerios, pancake, waffle, etc), before heading out the door.

The day is spent playing and learning new things at her Sitter's house. They go on a "field trip" once a week (today was COSI). She naps from around 930-1030 and 130-330. She eats 1 meal and 2 snacks. Every day we get a written update of the things she is doing there.

After picking up Amelia at her Sitter's, I bring her home and it's around 5:15 or so. She's usually ready for dinner, so I plop her into her high chair, and go to work. She's not much of a veggie eater (her sitter gets some in, but by the end of the day, she's pretty obstinate), so it's pretty much a carb/dairy/fruit fest.

Her menu of choice is pretty much either a quesadilla (tortilla+american cheese) or grilled cheese sandwich. Not much variety there! And she'll eat chopped up fruit (grapes, watermelon, mango, etc) and some sort of "dessert", like puffs, graham crackers or animal crackers. That's just about it. She just is pretty hard to convince to expand her boundaries at dinnertime, so we've stopped struggling and just offer her our veggies, but don't cry when she won't eat them. Actually, that's being nice.... it's not just not eating them... she ceremoniously chucks them off her high chair and onto the floor. It's frustrating, but we feel stuck right now. We're holding off on meat and eggs for now, she has stopped liking some stuff she used to like (like beans and rice), and she does not like "normal" toddler foods like macaroni and cheese.

But one victory is that she's drinking milk now! It took about a week of mixing it with formula, gradually lessening the amount of formula in the cup. And she was already a pro at the sippy cup, so that wasn't a problem. So now she's totally off of formula (YAY!) and virtually off of the bottle, too. We can't officially say that, because she nurses at bedtime, so if I wasn't there, I'm thinking Chris would give her a bottle, just to get her to go to bed easy. Her pediatrician says that once she's drinking a good amount of milk, we can drop the bedtime feeding, but we're nervous about that!!

Here's Amelia tonight at dinner. Sippy cup of milk; grapes are what's closest to her; a couple of chunks of watermelon in the middle; abandoned quesadilla at the far side of the tray.

Chris usually cooks for us while I'm keeping Amelia happy and well-fed.

After, we hang out until bedtime. We like to play outside... going for walks, swinging, or rolling around on the lawn. She gets an ice cream treat about once a week. We also like to play with her toys indoors. She LOVES to be chased, and likes to tackle and crawl over mommy or daddy.

Playful Amelia!

At around 7:15 (sometimes later, but usually not), we head upstairs. Bath, dressed in pj's, books, feeding, bedtime!

And about 12 hours later... it all starts again.

Before we were parents, we swore that we'd not be those that are sticklers to routine and slaves to nap/bedtimes. But... sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It keeps our kid happy and healthy. We stray from the schedule enough to stay sane and enjoy life.

New Fun!

Chris has gotten into cycling lately, and wants it to be a family activity.

He has a bike that he's been fixing up for himself and I have a great bike that hasn't seen the light of day in a little while. :)

We stopped at our local bike shop and got Amelia fitted for a helmet. We'd been keeping our eyes scouring Craigslist every day, looking for either a seat to put on Chris's bike or a trailer for him to tow.

We totally lucked out yesterday and I found one posted just moments before and was the first to reply! It's a great trailer that we could never have afforded new, and is in awesome shape. It's got a bar and 3rd wheel you can attach and it transforms to a jogging stroller!

Monday was a great day! We went to the flea markets and parade in Sunbury.

Amelia watched the super-short parade with her best buddy, Joey. We even got some dancing out of it! **Video**

Then, we came back to the house, and after a nap, Amelia was refreshed and ready to welcome guests. Joey brought his parents, and a few other friends showed up for a little holiday cookout.

Sharing her toys:

Joey turned the bubble machine at Amelia full-blast, with some humorous results [you can see the bubbles shooting at her head and collecting in her hair]:

Weekend Fun!

I know... it's a 3 day weekend that's not over yet, but I wanted to get an update on here.

We've had a fun weekend thus far, despite a little cold that Amelia picked up at the end of last week.

She got a fun new push car (birthday gift) that she just had to test out. She really liked it and learned quickly how to "beep" the horn.

So we all walked down to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning. First of the season! Chris's dad and step-mom were in town for the weekend.

Later, Amelia and Grandpa played with her water table.

And then on Sunday, we went to the old part of Dublin and walked around.

And came home in time for the Memorial Day parade that went just in front of the house!

Tomorrow, we're headed out in the morning to another parade and festival. Later, we have some friends stopping by for a mini-BBQ.

Terrific Thursday!

"Ameer" being pushed around by Joey

Sharing spaghetti with Mama [she thought this was hilarious!]

Amelia has been such a delight lately! She loves to play with Mama and Daddy.

And she loves to entertain. I had 10 ladies at the house this week for book club, and she spun around the room for a good hour making the girls laugh. Daddy was at a meeting, so she took full advantage of getting to stay up late until he got home!

She's also mimicking a lot more -- we've heard "dirty", "hi", and a version of "breakfast", amongst others. It's not quite a good as when she says words and understands what they mean, but it's funny nonetheless. She has picked up "doggie" though and says it when she sees one or hears barking.

YAY Summer!!

The best part of the warm weather so far.....

Cute new clothes!!!!

And little toes :)

I love this kid!

I have great friends, a great husband, and an even better kid! She makes me so happy, and nights like tonight remind me of this.

We switched sitter's (again) recently. Amelia LOVES her new place and they totally love her too. It's great to hear that, you know? Like if I don't get to have fun with her, I want to hear that someone else is having fun with her. She is napping better, eating better, eating different stuff, and just seems so happy to go there. And the new place has another girl her age, which I think she missed at her last place.

Tonight, Chris picked up Amelia from the new Sitter and they were outside playing. Amelia did not want to leave. Can you believe that?? But they left, and met up with me at the pottery painting studio. Amelia unleashed her inner artist again, and worked on a couple of projects.

Later, Chris needed to mow the lawn, so after I fed Amelia her dinner, we decided to break out her new water table that she got for her birthday. She LOVED it!

Some pics....

Some video....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAdFXsZ0lqY -- she's just playing, but you hear one of her new favorite words about 2/3 the way through -- "Weeee!". She loves to say that when she is having fun, especially when we go for walks!

When she's seriously concentrating on her playing, you get the tongue:

Terrific Thursday!

Our goofy kid....

Eating noodles

Loving on her "kitty cat"
[Penny gets what's coming to her, because she keeps coming back for more]

Riding her "scooter"

Playing with her new bubble machine

As you can see from the last two pictures, Amelia has some great new toys. Plan a play date with us this summer - she has all the best stuff! Outdoors.... kid-sized picnic table, water table, swing, slide, car, wagon, etc. Indoors... a couple of ride-on toys, lots of balls and tons of other great toys. This kid is kinda spoiled. :)

...one more!

Ok, one more Mother's Day pic, since you can't see quite how cute she was in the other ones. This is one of the new dresses she got for her birthday, layered up a bit for the cool day.

Cute kid :)

I also forgot to mention in my previous post that we were wrong on the molars - all 4 of them are popping through right now! They've all made an appearance and are in the process of cutting through fully.

Poor kid. She's been quite clingy lately, most particularly with me. Even Chris has gotten some hysterics while holding her while I'm walking away. Poor little one. Daddy's the super-fun one, but I'm the one that she wants when she feels bad.

Weekend Fun!

After a week of hanging out with her Gramma D, Amelia had to say goodbye (for now) on Saturday.

That night, we went to a Columbus Crew game. We decided to push the boundaries of bedtime and all go.... and it was quite a fun night!

Amelia hanging out with her buddy, Joey, before the game

Watching the game with Daddy

Sunday, of course, was Mother's Day and wow, was I spoiled!

Pictures in front of last year's gift, my lilac bush, which bloomed just the day before!

After breakfast out together, just the 3 of us, Amelia and I jumped in the car to see my family over by Dayton. Chris had his OWU graduation to attend.

I got cards and flowers and gifts galore - I felt so special!

One of my gifts from Amelia and Chris was this beautiful orchid.

And just because I'm not quite ready to give up my Monday morning photo shoots.... here's Amelia at 53 weeks!

More teeth!

Today, Chris noticed Amelia's lower right 1 yr molar coming through, breaking the skin. I peeked around and saw that the upper one was already through and we missed it! Perhaps that was that brief period almost 2 weeks ago when she had the fever? Probably.

Poor little girl. She's been a trouper, but taking some serious naps!

1 Year Pictures!

Sorry, I forgot to post the link for all of Amelia's 1 year pictures!

Still to come....
- first birthday letter
- the final version of her birthday video [still need to update with the last week of pictures and videos]

First birthday appointment - everything went great! Dr. K was so impressed with her talking and development. Amelia got her shots, which she hated.

Weight - 19 pounds, 12 ounces - 29th percentile
Height - 30.5 inches - 85th percentile

1 Year Old!!

Amelia was 1 year old on Tuesday!

She had a fabulous day, hanging out with Gramma D, with visits from Mommy and Daddy

She ate more cake!

Later, we went to the Zoo!

And she finally got her first in-person view of some REAL duckies! :)

She hated the carousel

We went to dinner, and as it turns out Grandma and Grandpa Roberts were passing right by there on their way back from Cleveland, so they joined us at the last minute! It was great.

More birthday posts coming... sorry it's all coming out in awkward spurts - it's been quite a week!
