Terrific Thursday!

Bewwy

One of Amelia's favorite things to do these days is to pull up her shirt (or dress) and display her belly for the world to see. It's cutest when she says "bewwy" (belly) along with that.

And then she likes to play with her belly button. I'm afraid she's going to undo the poor thing.

Oh and she's clearly referring to herself by name. She says "Mee-na" when she wants something - like she's saying that's Amelia's food or whatever. And she'll repeat it back to us when we say Amelia. It's awfully cute... and a lot clearer than I thought her first version of her name would be! I've also heard her refer to herself as "honeee" a couple of times when she's sad, because Chris calls her honey when he's trying to console her.

She's a Toddler!

Ack... now that my kid is walking, she's no longer a baby, right?? She's a toddler! I want my little baby back!

But oh my goodness, she is such a happy little girl - such a joy for us!

Kitties! She still LOVES her kitties - or "ki-kat" - and she loves to meow at them. We keep a book about kitties in Chris's car that she loves to "read" on her way to her sitter's house. She looks for it as soon as she gets in the car and flips through it doing her little meow.

Doggies! They're great, too! We always know when there is a dog in sight, because she goes "Fff - fff" (her little "woof"). She thinks dogs are hilarious and loves to meet them.

Belly! She loves to pull up her shirt and poke at her belly. We started referring to it and asking where her belly was, and now she's been saying "bewwy" when we talk about it. Cutest little girl word ever!

Shoes! She knows what they are, points to them, and says "shoe"!

Balls! She loves balls - she always has. She calls them "ba".

She gives great hugs (complete with pat-pat-pat on the back) and puckered kissies. She's walking like a champ and "running" when enticed. She's always busy, busy, busy.

Oh and she's trying to say her name! For a while now, she'd say "Meen-nya" a lot and we didn't know what it meant. We started thinking that she was using it when she wanted something. And recently she would say it when I'd call her by name. So maybe that's her way of saying Amelia? Well then yesterday sitter said that she was saying "Amelia" just right, but we have not gotten her to do it.

Our little girl is growing up so fast. It seems that every day she's adding something to her list of tricks.

And next, she will be grabbing some gossip magazines and heading off to the hair salon for a new 'do, right? :)

Weekend Fun!

This past weekend we spent over at my parents' house, because Uncle Brent was in from Texas!!

So of course, Amelia saw all of her (Roberts) family.

Monica decided that Amelia was her own personal doll and carried her around for probably 2 hours on Saturday:

Amelia became best buddies with the neighbor doggie, Midnight:

But she did not do a great job at sharing the balls with cousin Victoria:

A little later on Saturday, we headed out to a park.

Amelia and Victoria decided that sharing a swing was the way to go:

Fun!!!

Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrhU1q8lNXY

And then she did some sliding:

Amelia got SO good at the slides - of all sizes! By the end, she was going down without assistance!

Amelia was so worn out by all of the fun on Saturday (and the lack of nap #2), by the end of the day, she could not even sit upright for dinner:

Sunday, was a great lunch with the family and a very relaxed time before we headed home. The whole weekend was great. Amelia loves everyone and had a great time showing off her walking.

I failed to get any good family shots, so this is a pretty Amelia-focused post. It is her blog, so that makes sense! But I have to throw this picture on here.... look at this little face and the blue feet (from sidewalk chalk)!

Open your mouth and say AHHHHH.....

Amelia's newest thing is to open her mouth WAAAAY open when she wants food. It does not matter if it's her food or your food... if she wants it, you will know.

Yum... I want your dinner:

Cupcake!!

Eating up her macaroni:

Sharing breakfast with Daddy [they do this every morning]:

This past Sunday, a woman walked by her with a cupcake, and she leaned over waaaaay far and tried to get a lick.

Oh my. What a kid we have.

Walking Video!!!

Here's the walking video I promised. We think it's funny that her first walking video is not that typical "kid toddling unsteadily from one parent to the other" video. Up until this day, she'd only take a few steps at a time, and never from one person to the other (crawling was faster!).

But as you know, my kid does everything in her own time.

Weekend Fun - Part 2!

Here's some pictures from our Sunday morning at the pool. Amelia showed off to Gramma D all that she's learned in her 4 weeks of swimming classes:

1) Jumping into the water -- she's really getting bold about that, as long as we're close enough to catch her.

I love this picture - he looks like he's negotiating with her:

And then they are cheering each other on:

And then she jumps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7Gfrq3BdWs

2) Front floats/swimming -- she loves floating and swimming on her belly. She's starting to figure out kicking and paddling.

Here's a brief video, except she was so fascinated with the little girl jumping in across the way, that she could not focus! :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR-uEjlz8SE

3) Going underwater -- she's always the first kid in her class all wet. She has no fear with this!

4) Back floats -- she HATES these. She puts her hand over her face like she can't even handle what's going on.

5) Singing songs -- she loves when the group sings "Wheels on the bus" (complete with motions) or "Ring Around the Rosie" (complete with underwater dunk!). She gets so excited and wiggly!

6) Going down the kiddie slide -- she's okay with this, as long as you stay with her.

Weekend Fun - Part 1!

This weekend, Chris and I had day-long plans on Saturday, so Gramma D swooped down from Michigan to claim the kid for the day. She and her friend, Liz [mom of Christine who was here last weekend!], came down on Friday night. Amelia stayed up late to see them and show off some of her newest tricks. But little did we all know, the best was yet to come....

On Saturday Chris and I left early and came home late. We came home to find out that Amelia had suddenly decided that walking is cool, and had literally spent the day walking from room to room... pivoting in circles... walking like a total champ. We got a bit on video, which I'll try to post tomorrow. But it was rather hilarious to come home to find a completely different kid. And I swear, tonight, she ran when she thought I was chasing her - Ran!

Today, we hung out at the house in the morning, went to the pool to show off her tricks there, and then Gramma and Liz left mid-day to head home. Amelia loved her weekend with her Gramma D and her spare grandma!

Some pictures from her day of fun!

She jumped on this toy like she was riding a Segway:

Smiling girl:

Playing peek-a-boo with Gramma:

The 3 ladies:

Playing with kermit:

Some other new tricks...
--Her vocabulary increases daily, but some of the latest: "Oopie" - she says when she drops something, like oops! "Nana" - she called her grandma that a few times this weekend; "Bye bye"; "backpack backpack" - sings it like they do on Dora (did this the first time she really watched the show!)
--Blows kisses
--Gives closed-mouth puckered kisses
--Eating with a fork

A vew from my world...

Amelia goes through phases-- pretty much like every other week where all she wants is Mommy. She'll be happy and content with whoever has her... until she lays eyes on me.

So here is a view from Mommy's world:

Weekend Fun - Part 3!

On Sunday, we all slept in a little bit, to make up for the late night on Saturday. Amelia had gone to bed about 2 hours late, thanks to 4th of July festivities.

After a pretty major mid-day nap, we decided to go to the splash park in Dublin.

Our little fishie LOVED it

She got right in there with the water spouts

And the familial engineer instinct had her trying to figure out how they worked:

She even got somewhat close to the waterfalls, but not too close:

A couple of videos...

One last picture after she dried off:

We'll definitely be going back. She had the best time and I think she'll enjoy it more when she is really walking.

Afterwards, we headed out to dinner. Amelia had the macaroni and cheese, and was making a good mess of it with her hands. Then, when I wasn't looking, she grabbed my fork and started eating with it! Just like my kid to master the fork before mastering walking. Everything in her own time!

But then, she regressed a bit and decided to crunch her ice cream cone from the wrong end:

Weekend Fun - Part 2!

Part 2 of the weekend - the 4th of July!

We had an impromptu weekend guest! Our friend, Christine, flew in from Chicago on Friday night. Amelia loved seeing her again.

We live on a somewhat busy thoroughfare - a parade route about 3-4 times per year. So we took our chairs out and claimed some prime seats!

I gotta give you the close up of Amelia's face here! What a stinker.

She LOVED the parade. She got lots of candy, most of which was confiscated by the older folks in the house.

Later, Amelia changed into her second patriotic outfit of the day [what can I say - the girl is fashionable], and we went down to Columbus for the Crew (soccer) game.

Amelia met the Crew Cat!

And then waved the flag with Daddy....

And got a hug and a kiss from her pal, Joey...

Amelia had a great time and even liked the fireworks at the end!
