We had our very informative hospital tour last night. At one point, the nurse told us that the father should go over to the bassinet, while they are cleaning bambino up and checking her over, because his voice will soothe her as one she recognizes. Chris got all freaked out by that, because he hasn't really gone out of his way to make his presence known, other than nightly "good night"s and occasional commentary about the fun they will have together this summer, and such. He said he was too embarrassed, because he didn't know what to say.
So last night, I gave him some prompts. I recommended starting with his 3 favorite things about that day. And here they are, in order of greatness: (1) Seeing her on the growth ultrasound that morning, (2) Riding the Vespa to work and back, (3) Montreal advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup. That broke the seal of talking to baby, let me tell you! About 20 minutes later, I had to cut him off, so I could go to bed :)

what? i figured he'd already been teaching her converstional Italian......
Not yet, but he has been researching the best books to do that with. He does talk to her in italian.
i find it hard that he seemed freaked out by it (but wait...coming from the one who could have conversations w/your belly right now i ought to reconsider my comment!).
i am so excited. i'm sure chris will do great. i am certain you'll do great, too. i am so excited to watch you two as parents and to experience another chapter in the "days of your lives". what an exciting thing to celebrate the miracle of a child with you. thank you! :) it is wonderful. i can't wait to become an aunt to amelia! will kevin be her uncle?!?! :) :) love, love, love that belly (baby).
Nah, he just freaked out because he realized he should have been talking to her more. He's afraid she won't know him or like him. :)
That is awesome. Made me laugh. Glad to hear the ice is broken between he and Amelia...many long conversations to look forward to!
