Weekend Fun!!

On Friday night, we had family happy hour at Nova. It had been a little while since we'd gone there and enjoyed their yummy food, and it was a nice Friday night together.

On Saturday morning, we checked out the farmer's markets and ran a few errands.

Amelia went to sleep after lunch and got a great nap in. She is getting over a cold, so she really appreciates her naps.

We'd planned to all go down to the Crew game, but a rain storm was coming. So, we decided that Chris would go with a friends, and Amelia and I would stay warm and dry for the night.

Beforehand, we went to Graffiti Burger (yum!!) with Joey and his parents... because, you know... a weekend wouldn't be the same without seeing Joey!!

They played peek-a-boo (flirting??) across the table:

And then the guys went to the game, and the ladies and kiddos hung out a bit longer before heading home.

On Sunday morning, we were all set to go to church, when Amelia decided she wanted a morning nap. Oh well.

After she got up, she and I ran some errands while Daddy got some work done.

After a decent afternoon nap, we went to a nice party hosted by Chris's former phD advisor.

Amelia was checking out the toys in the yard next door:

She has officially ordered this toy for Christmas. My camera was malfunctioning.... I wish I could share with you the GIANT smile she had while bouncing on this!!

And she ran around, looking for more trouble to get into:

She figured out the neighbor boy's rocket:

It was a great night catching up with old colleagues/friends.

On Monday, we had an exciting dinner date with Grandma Cathy and Grandpa Larry, who were passing through from a trip to Cleveland!

Amelia colored:

And played peek-a-boo with Grandpa:

And made goofy faces at Grandma:

And then she got awfully tired:

So we gave hugs goodbye and headed home:

Thanks for the visit Grandma and Grandpa!!

Love This!

You saw this picture last week right?? This is the face that Amelia gives when we say "show us your face!" We have no clue where this came from...

Tonight... both of my lovelies gave me "the face" -- eyes closed, teeth baring, crazy look.

Love them.

Cuteness

Amelia has been saying "thank you" ... well, more like "dank-yoo" ... when we give her things.

Seriously - like one of the cutest things ever.

Smart kid!

I got schooled by a 16 month old this morning.

On her way to the Sitter's house, she was singing the alphabet song behind me in her car seat. It was pretty mumbly after "a b c", so I thought I'd give her a hand with the letters. I sang "a b c d e f g..." and she cut in as clear as day with "h i j k". So much for not really knowing the letters! :)

And then she knew the letters at the end, too. I sang "s t u v w x" and she finished me out with "y z". I think she knows most, if not all, of the letters, but she just doesn't always say them clearly if she is just singing them to herself.

And then the funny moment...

I guess I chose the wrong time to try to teach her to be a true Buckeye. I repeated "O-H"..."I-O!" over and over, in a loud, cheery voice. I thought just maybe she'd finish it out for me one time.

Instead, the last time I said "O-H", her reply was "A B C D! " in the same tone that I was using. She totally must have been thinking I was crazy, yelling out letters that weren't in the right order. :)

Terrific Thursday!!

Some random pictures from the last week...

Another time walking in Mommy's shoes:

She's fascinated by shoes. She loves to pick them up ("shoe! shoe!") and move them around the house, and she loves to try them on.

"Helping" Daddy fold laundry (that's boxers on her head):

Showing us just how cooool she can be:

Umm... I think she's still working on her spoon skills:

"Helping" mommy unwind a spool of ribbon (she was SO proud of this accomplishment):

Chilling with Daddy:

Dance party with Daddy!

Happy little baby wildcat:

And the BEST. She just started giving us this face... we don't know why... but if you ask "show us your face" - she does this:

Lovely... eyes mostly closed, crooked-toothy face.

More Amelia smartness!

She now attempts to count on her fingers (thanks to Nana D) and sings the alphabet song. All the letters don't come out right, of course, but she has the tune and a few letters down pat. It's cute to hear her quietly singing to herself. :)

Seriously...

you need to click on the last picture of the next post ("Scoot-a-que pictures"). It should open larger for you, so you can stare at the beauty of the picture... and the beauty of my girl. :)

Scoot-A-Que pictures

As promised... the awesome pictures that (professional photographer) Sam took of Amelia at Scoot-a-Que! He did a great job again this year!

She wasn't the happiest of subjects though... a bit mellow:

So now you know what Amelia looks like all the time.... a cute girl with her crazy mom chasing her around with a camera all day! Seriously, this is a cool shot:

This counts as an Amelia shot, because she's visible in the background, right??

Oh no! She's getting ready to show her belly button!!

THE awesome shot. To be on our wall, next to the awesome shot that Sam took last year (need a reminder? Look at the weekend post):

Weekend Fun!!

This weekend was the big scooter rally - SCOOT-A-QUE!!

On Friday, we went down to Columbus to check in and check out some of the stuff that they had going on that night.

Daddy feeding Amelia dinner on the couch at Capital city Scooters:

And when we returned home, Nana Dona had arrived!

She brought Amelia a lovely little fairy outfit and a slinky! (amongst other things)

She wasn't feeling so well that night, but she liked to play dress-up:

The next morning, Chris drove the scooter down to Columbus for the day's festivities.

Amelia was SO upset when we didn't leave right after:

But we left soon, with Nana Dona.

We had breakfast with all the scooting folks:

Chris was entertaining Amelia, and started to do a head-stand.

Amelia decided that it looked very easy and she wanted to try:

Daddy gave her some help:

Then we went outside to do the obligatory baby-in-the scooter shot, by awesome photographer, Sam.

Remember last year's shot??

I'm going to save this year's pictures for another post, because they don't belong in a post with my unprofessional pictures!!

But here's my version:

About half of the 200 scooters in town for the rally: [usually if you click on an image, it will blow it up]

And Amelia gave Daddy a hug goodbye:

And off he went!

Amelia, Nana and I went home so the kid could get a nap. She came down with a little cold on Thursday, but was a trooper all weekend.

Later, Daddy came home after his loooong ride to Granville and then back up to Delaware.

Amelia, Daddy and Nana decided to do some coloring together:

This year's rally had a "senior year" theme, and Saturday night's event was PROM!! Everyone hit up the thrift stores for tacky old prom wear, but I was totally unsuccessful.

So we decided to go for a funky/silly/matchy-matchy theme. The pink was inspired by my tights, and followed by Chris's bowtie. Dona and I made the corsage and boutonniere were home made by Dona and me.

On Sunday, we headed to the Delaware County Fair. Chris had won some tickets for box seats for the harness racing through work. Dona and I headed over at first, and then Chris and Amelia joined us after she finished her nap.

The racing was AWESOME! And this former-Kentucky girl enjoyed placing a few small bets (and winning a bit!).

When Amelia arrived, she was fascinated by all of the action:

And she even picked the horse that won us the best return all day!

After a few more races, we headed out and checked out the fun stuff at the fair.

Of course next came a tiny cold for both Chris and me -- but we're all doing much better today!

We Won!

I almost forgot to post this!!

One of our pictures from last weekend's Crew game was a winner of Fan Photo of the Week! The guy actually emailed me to say that I missed the deadline for submission (oops!), so they had picked the other person, but my pictures were too good to pass up.

Check it out here: http://blackandgoldstandard.com/?p=2174#more-2174

We won 2 tickets to upcoming games, which was a little difficult, since we already have tickets to several more games! But we figured out how they can best be used. :)

Terrific Thursday!!

Some fun random pictures from last weekend!

A bit of a diva moment, post-haircut. Yes, she is wearing a crown and holding her balloon prize:

Ah... much more innocent looking:

Hugging her favorite kitty in the whole world, Penny:

Playing with Daddy:

She put her hand up this box of Special K box to make something like a hand puppet (excellent choice of cereal, Grandpa Tom would say!):

Coloring Grandparents Day cards [I promise, I bought them over a week ago... but we forgot to send them until the weekend! Oops!]:

Amelia looooves coloring. This is something she definitely picked up at her Sitter's house. Every week, she comes home with a new project that she worked very hard on.

At home, she likes to grab a coloring book and get the crayons out on her own. Now if only we could trust her to color nicely, without coloring things that shouldn't be colored or nibbling on the tops of her crayons!!

This past week, we discovered that Amelia really knows her numbers! She'd been doing 1-2-3 for a little while now. So one night I kept going, and so did she! I said 1-2-3-4-5-6-7... and she (out of the blue) said 8-9 unprompted! And we went back through and she did 5-6 right where they belonged in the order. The only numbers that she just won't say are 4 and 7.

Tonight we had a guy over giving us an estimate on getting Amelia's bathroom fixed up. The guy was showing us how a certain thing worked and it was a 3 or 4 step process. Amelia was walking by when she heard him say "1" and she immediately helped him out by saying "2", and just kept on walking. It was really funny!
