I got schooled by a 16 month old this morning.
On her way to the Sitter's house, she was singing the alphabet song behind me in her car seat. It was pretty mumbly after "a b c", so I thought I'd give her a hand with the letters. I sang "a b c d e f g..." and she cut in as clear as day with "h i j k". So much for not really knowing the letters! :)
And then she knew the letters at the end, too. I sang "s t u v w x" and she finished me out with "y z". I think she knows most, if not all, of the letters, but she just doesn't always say them clearly if she is just singing them to herself.
And then the funny moment...
I guess I chose the wrong time to try to teach her to be a true Buckeye. I repeated "O-H"..."I-O!" over and over, in a loud, cheery voice. I thought just maybe she'd finish it out for me one time.
Instead, the last time I said "O-H", her reply was "A B C D! " in the same tone that I was using. She totally must have been thinking I was crazy, yelling out letters that weren't in the right order. :)
