Friday 12/24
Friday morning, we got going early and headed down to Cincinnati.
Wearing Grandpa's sunglasses in the car:
Testing out big-girl beds at IKEA - She is ready to drop the crib, but we certainly aren't!
Downtown Cincinnati with Daddy and Grandpa:
We went to the Duke Electric Building to check out the super-cool train display that they put out every year. It's a bit of a family tradition to go see the trains, and it was Amelia's first time.
Free cookies!
We did a little bit of walking through downtown and watched the ice skaters at Fountain Square.
We got back from our little excursion in the early afternoon, and gave Amelia a quick nap before church.
When she got up, we got her all dressed for the Christmas Eve service, and let her open one present (another tradition from my family):

She loved her new Cinderella Barbie doll, and took her to church with her:

All pretty and ready to go!

When we got back home, we decorated the cookies for Santa, which I had started earlier in the day.

Amelia did a great job, with Daddy as a helper:

So proud of her cookies for Santa!

Reading "The Night Before Christmas" right before bedtime:

Running out to see if Santa ate the cookies and left her presents:

Santa got Amelia the coolest Thomas train set:

She had such a great time playing with it!

Next, after some breakfast, she checked out her stocking:

Her favorite part being the tree-shaped "peeps":

And then she dug into the rest of her pile. She really enjoyed checking out each thing that she got. She really had such a great Christmas, with so many wonderful presents from all of her family and friends!

Modeling her new Cinderella dress:

She also got a reader that reads aloud special books to her -- she really enjoyed checking it out:

Check out this video to see her reaction to opening the dress, and how eager she is to get it on:

Reading a book to Great-Grandma:

All of the cousins opening presents together:

After a great Christmas dinner, we pulled together a cousin picture:

Cousins and Grandparents:

Hanging out with her cousin-- they are best buddies!

Hugging Great-Grandma goodbye:

Playing with her same-aged cousin V:

It was a great Christmas Day! We tried really hard to make sure Amelia got a well-rounded Christmas. We definitely want her knowing the true reason for the season, so we take her to church and talked with her about it being Jesus's birthday. But we also think that every kid has the right to believe in Santa for a little while, so we incorporated him in, too. And while presents are great, we made sure she was thankful and really understood that family time is more important.

She impressed us with her knowledge of her favorite Christmas book. It may be hard to make out, but she recites the book almost verbatim....
Sunday 12/26
All dressed up again for Church - posing with Grandpa, who was wearing the same color!
