Baby #2!

I suppose the word is out to everyone now that we are expecting baby #2 in September!

The day we found out (in January), I used Amelia to tell Daddy the good news. I lured her upstairs, changed her shirt into a "Big Sister" shirt, and told her that when we got downstairs, she needed to get Daddy to read her shirt.

Here's the video:

I promised her m&m's if she did a good job. In the video, Chris asks her if I had told her (meaning about the baby), and I had not, so she was meaning that yes, I told her that she'd get m&m's!

Enjoying her reward:

We had a good first appointment at 8 weeks, and got to see the little bean on screen. Everything looks great so far!

We had told Amelia about the baby not long prior, so she would understand why Mama was so tired lately. So she was SO excited to see the first picture of "Teeny Baby".

Later that night, we got on Skype to tell Chris's parents the news. We got Amelia back in her shirt, and tried to help them see the shirt and understand the significance.

Grandma Dona's turn:

Grandpa Tom and Grandma Linda's turn:

We then told my family when we saw them that weekend.

Everyone has been quite excited, of course!

I had another good appointment at 12 weeks. My doc even gave me a (free!) peek at the baby again!

So far, everything has been going well. I had morning sickness from about weeks 7-11, and have been pretty tired, but things are going well otherwise!

Weekend Fun! March 4-6 and 11-13

Friday 3/4

We met up with our Friday group for a quick dinner... it was really quick because we needed to get back home and make some plans!

Chris decided that day that he'd need to go on a spring break road trip to help his mother with his grandparents, who have been having some difficulties lately.

Saturday 3/5

Saturday AM, Chris hit the road. Amelia and I decided that it would be a good opportunity to have at sleepover at Grandpa's house, so we hit the road not long after.

Amelia's pony friends, having a dance party while we waited for a few minutes outside of Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa's house:

Amelia did the thing she ALWAYS does at their house - jump into their bed for a "nap":

Singing a few songs for Great-Grandma:

Hanging out with Great-Grandpa:

We stopped to pick up a few things at a store, but we passed on this flower headband and got a new easter hat instead...

We had lunch with my Dad and then went back to his house so Amelia could get a nap.

It took her a while to fall asleep, and about an hour later started fussing. I guess I was too quick to decide that she was done with her nap... because when I got her up, she fell back asleep on me!

She was like this for about 50 minutes - it was bliss:

We had a nice, relaxing evening at Dad's house. Nothing terribly exciting.

Sunday 3/6

Breakfast!

Posing with Grandpa before church:

Grandpa's church had a lunch after, so we stayed and Amelia gulped down a hot dog!

We headed home right after (Dad had plans), and got home just in time for a nap.

Friday 3/11

To be honest, I can't really recall what we did this evening, except maybe to hang out at the house!

Saturday 3/12

We got ready early and went to the St. Patrick's parade in a nearby town. This is the closest I could find to green in her closet...

Waiting for the parade to arrive:

Enjoying the parade (and the candy!):

We went out for a birthday lunch at one of Chris's favorite places, and then headed home for Amelia's nap time.

After naptime we decided it was time to get serious on this potty training business.

This was the outfit that Amelia wanted to wear - down to the "ballet shoes", as she called them:

Part of her motivation was to be able to start taking a dance class (requires kid be potty trained), so perhaps that was the reasoning behind the shoes?

Things went fairly well, and have gotten progressively better through the week.

That night, we had a birthday dinner for Daddy. It was a night early, but he didn't mind:

Enjoying daddy's birthday desserts:

Sunday 3/13

Daddy's birthday!!

Working on that potty-training again...

We went home after and Amelia got her nap. We had a nice evening as a family.

It was a nice weekend!

Weekend Fun! February 25-27

Friday 2/25

We met up with our usual Friday dinner group for a quick bite after work.

Saturday 2/26

Breakfast!

We got ready and decided to run a quick errand to Costco before naptime:

After naptime, we went to watch Mommy's college basketball team play on tv, with some fellow alumni.

Amelia was more into playing "ball" with Daddy:

Next we went and had dinner with some friends that are getting ready to have a baby. We passed on our last bits of knowledge to them.

Amelia crashed on our way home:

Sunday 2/27

Watching a movie before church:

All dressed up for church:

Later, after naptime, we went up to the University to meet the girls going with Daddy to Italy in May. Amelia entertained them with her usual antics.

It was a nice, fun weekend!
