Week with Grandma - Part 2

Wednesday 8/17

Playing at Grandma's house!

Daddy's old toy tractor:

She was shooting bugs, from a safe distance:

Thursday 8/18

This evening, they had tickets to see a local production of "Cinderella". Of course Amelia wore her Cinderella dress!

Amelia really enjoyed the show - especially when the Fairy Godmother fell down (she was on roller skates). She also managed to sneak a flower petal off the stage during the wedding scene.

She met with the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella after the show -- she said that she was too shy to smile in this picture:

Friday 8/19

The championship baseball game!

She was fascinated with Grandma's binoculars:

And the home team won! Yay!

Amelia had a great time up north with Grandma, and also with her other grandparents and cousins.

We missed her so much, and she seemed to miss us a lot too. So it was a nice time for all 3 of us to refresh ourselves and remember how much we love each other! :)

Week With Grandma - Part 1

Amelia spent a week with Grandma (including a day with her other grandparents) up in Michigan earlier this month.

It was a great opportunity for Chris and me to get stuff ready for the baby, and get some extra stuff done at our jobs.

So here's some pics from her adventures!

Monday 8/15

A Day at the Fair:

Worn out!

Tuesday 8/16

Night at the baseball game!

Dona's friend, Liz, was there with them. Amelia really likes Liz:

It turned into a pretty late night, because the local team won the season.

You'll see another baseball game in the next post, because they went to the championships later in the week!

August 11-12

Thursday 8/11

Amelia and Chris headed out for a daddy-daughter night. They picked up some food for a picnic and headed to a local park.

Some play time:

And then they checked out the dam:

They had a great night, and Mommy enjoyed a night off!

Friday 8/12

We took Amelia to the hospital where the baby is going to be born at, so she could see where everything will be happening and where she will be coming to visit him.

She had a long, nap-free day, and fell asleep on the way down:

But she woke up when we headed into the hospital, and seemed to enjoy it.

Her favorite parts were 1) getting cookies from the hospitality cart, 2) seeing the little babies in the nursery, and 3) getting a little homemade stuffed cat from the tour leader (named "Violet").

Swim Class

Amelia had another round of swim classes earlier this summer. What she enjoys the most is the time that she and Chris spend in the water together before class. "Pra-sticking" as she calls it.

Chris taught her how to dive, and she picked it up really well:

She also really liked to do running leaps into the water:

And when Daddy would launch her high in the air

Of course, she liked class too. They did all the usual skills, but it wasn't quite as challenging as the last time, which was odd.

Walking between pools with the class:

Time to go off the low-dive!

She went off too quickly, so I didn't get video this time. And many of the kids were so scared and slow about it, that they didn't go a second time.

Amelia wanted to go off the high-dive like last time, but none of the other kids wanted to do it, and she didn't want to be the only one. Oh well!

Sports Class

We signed Amelia up for a sports camp - just 5 consecutive mornings for an hour - where they would learn basic skills of soccer and basketball.

Here are some pictures from day 1...

Listening to the coach - before they split the kids into the 2 camps (3/4yr olds and older kids). Amelia's the little one in pink in the back:

Some running around - warming up:

Time for some basketball:

Instruction from the coach:

Her first attempt at a basket.... the angle of the picture looks like it went in (but it didn't...)

We realized that Amelia is more meant for a botany class than a sports class -- she's just really into flowers and other plant life and gets easily distracted!

But she listened to the coaches (for the most part) and did pretty well at trying everything.

Day 2 - working on her soccer skills:

Day 3 - She was so proud of her outfit for "Wacky Wednesday"!

We didn't take any other pictures, but the rest of the week improved in terms of Amelia staying involved.

The main issue we noted is that they only brought ONE pink soccer ball, and there were about 6 little girls in the class all competing for it. They were so focused on getting that darn pink ball, often they would pout and not participate. Oh well!

Amelia is now the proud owner of a pink soccer ball, thanks to Daddy's shopping efforts. :)

I think she had a good time!
