Weekend Fun! April 15-17

Before we get to the weekend.... how about a cute haircut picture?

Friday 4/15

We didn't have any plans for the night, so we took the opportunity to drive down to the "big city" and pick out our new kitchen floors:

Amelia was a lot of help!

And we got it all in!

Saturday 4/16

We started out the day with dance class:

Afterwards, we had Amelia's pre-school orientation (she will start in the fall):

She was super excited to go check out her new school!

We didn't do much else this day - the morning was exciting enough!

Sunday 4/17

Church day!

On the way, we stopped by the hardware store to get some more supplies for our kitchen re-do:

After church, it was nap time, and a semi-relaxing evening at the house. We did a little painting in the kitchen, but sorry no pictures to share yet....

Dinner later - Amelia sure loves to eat corn on the cob!

Then a quick trip to store, and a little pony ride:

Pregnancy Update

Things are still going well. I started to feel very infrequent kicks around 14 weeks. Now, at almost 20 weeks, I'm feeling kicks about 3 times per week. But I also feel a lot of squirming and rolling in there.

Physically, I have not been feeling great. Just as with Amelia, pregnancy seems to knock my back and hips all awry and I turn into an achy, uncomfortable person!

Amelia still talks to "Teeny Baby" almost daily. She is excited about everything, and seems to understand exactly what's going on. She's certain that the baby is a boy, and has declared his name to be "Prince Phillip" -- like from Sleeping Beauty. She also tells me which direction he is looking in, when she talks to him.

It's definitely a fun time around here, and we have a lot of changes coming up soon!

Weekend Fun! April 7-10

Thursday 4/7

We had a circus in town, and I thought I would take Amelia. Two of her buddies tagged along with us:

The circus was a small affair, but I was surprised that they had everything I would expect from a circus, including...

Lions and a tiger (1 lion is jumping over 2 buddies):

Arial acts:

... and elephants, horses, jugglers, clowns, etc...

They were pretty big on selling a LOT of stuff to the crowd, and since we missed the p0ny rides at the beginning, Amelia talked me into a consolation prize:

Amelia and her friend watching one of the acts:

It was a fun show, but probably one we will skip the next time it comes through!

Friday 4/8

We didn't do much of anything this night.

Saturday 4/9

Amelia's dance class started this morning -- all dressed and ready to go in her leotard, tights, slippers and ballet slipper necklace:

Ready for class to start:

And then the shyness sets in....

At this point, the parents were kicked out (boo)

From what I could see the few times I peeked, she was not all that into participating. It seems our little girl really does have a shy side to her! Hopefully she will get more into things in future classes.

Next, Chris and Amelia had a little fun together while I was shopping.

Yogurt snack:

Testing out some bikes:

The bike shop said that she's ready for this size bike -- 16" with training wheels. But she wasn't terribly confident on it, and she's still working on her pedaling skills.

So we settled for this one -- a (used) tricycle - until she's ready to try again with the bigger ones:

Taking it out for a spin:

The cool thing about it is that you can give her a push, or let her go at it alone, and the handle is detachable too:

The confidence and independence sets in, temporarily:

And back home, in a trusty old favorite:

Further enjoying the spring day:

Sunday 4/10

All dressed and ready for church:

After church (and a nap), giving her bear a ride in the car:

And he gets treated to a thrill-seeking ride down the driveway:

Good luck!!

Finishing up enjoying the day with a popsicle:

Amelia and Mommy enjoyed playing, while Daddy did this:

It was a great weekend!

Weekend Fun! April 1-3

Friday 4/1

Being almost 3 years old, Amelia was due for her first dentist appointment! She went to the same place that Mommy and Daddy go to.

Waiting to be called back - reading a book:

Meeting her hygienist, and introducing the hygienist to her pony:

Amelia is still warming up to everything.... the hygienist is trying to help by making her a glove balloon:

It was decorated to look like Amelia:

Looking at her teeth in the little mirror:

She made Daddy lay with her for the cleaning:

She did really well.... she refused the flossing, but allowed the poking and the polishing:

And then a check from the dentist:

A little drink from the water squirter:

Getting her "goody bag" of dental supplies:

And for being a super-good girl, she got a coin for the prize machine:

All done! Daddy had his cleaning today too!

Friday night, we drove over to Grandpa Larry's house. Chris had a conference at a nearby university on Saturday, so we all stayed with Grandpa to save Chris a bit of a drive in the morning.

Saturday 4/2

With Daddy gone to work, Amelia, Mommy and Grandpa went to a local childrens musem.

Playing in one of the interactive exhibits:

Enjoying the water play with Grandpa:

She really liked this "rocket ship":

When she walked over, there were two other little girls inside, but they invited her to join them:

Having fun with Grandpa!

She likes the little "shopping" area. The stuff in front of her was left by another kid, but her basket was filled with fruits, veggies, and chocolate cake (2 out of 3 ain't bad!)

There's a little zoo there, with tons of neat stuff... but she was most interested in this display with a few ducks, turtles, and birds:

She really enjoyed the meerkats too:

In the jail exhibit - where she belongs:

Getting Mommy with some snakes!

Amelia the giant turtle:

After we left there, we went to get lunch at a local pizza favorite:

We had a great morning, and Amelia enjoyed a nice nap when we got back to Grandpa's house.

Later, we went to pick out some ballet slippers for Amelia's dance class coming up.

Testing them out:

Next, we went to see Joey for one last time, as his family was packing up to move out of state.

A little play time for the friends:

But she also really enjoyed some play time with this german shepherd puppy, Fritz:

Later, back at Grandpa's house, a few cousins stopped by to hang out with Amelia:

She was exhausted when this day was through - it was a great time!

Sunday 4/3

Amelia really enjoyed watching an old movie - Mary Poppins! She watched it in little bursts all weekend.

Finishing it up on Sunday morning:

That's a cat's bed that she's lying in.... she always does that there. (sigh)

All dressed and ready to go to Grandpa's church!

After church she went home with Grandpa, while Mommy and Daddy ran some errands and spent some time alone. Amelia and Grandpa had a good time together.

Later, it was time to head back home.

It was a great weekend!
