Italy - Days 9 & 10

Friday 5/28

We packed up our stuff and left Milan. Chris had a meeting near Modena, so we headed down there.

Passed by a town with *almost* Amelia's name:

The meeting location - a balsamic vinegar producer:

Amelia marched around his far, like she owned the place:

And got friendly with a farm cat:

Amelia hung around with Gampa, while I tagged along with Chris:

Beautiful farm nearby:

The balsamic vinegar cellar -- some of that stuff is over 20 years old! And very expensive:

After a very successful meeting at the vinegar farm, we took the proprietor's suggestion on a nearby restaurant for lunch. It was a fabulous lunch.... one for the record books.

Amelia felt compelled to dip her bread in her water:

And enjoyed with us the table full of yummy fresh pastas:

And pastry puffs, meats and cheeses:

And was rewarded by our waiter with a little tub of Nutella and a spoon:

Next, we went to the Ferrari museum:

Chris explaining to Amelia that she does not have enough money in her bank account to pay for one of these:

Playing with a computer program, learning about modern Ferrari innovations:

Riding in the one Ferrari you're allowed to touch:

Finally we headed "home" to settle in for another 5 days or so there.

Saturday 5/29

This day, we went for a morning in Lucca, which was close by where we were staying for the bulk of the trip.

Getting a ride from Gampa, through the market:

She found some adorable kitten-friends at the market. She loved them!

Heading through the streets of Lucca:

I don't recall what this is, but it's quite beautiful!

Hanging out in front of Puccini's birth place:

Throwing an absolute fit because I did not want her carrying around my bag....

And making friends with a roaming doggie:

Getting a special ride from Gampa -- and loving it!

Reading about the famous works of Puccini:

We had a nice morning sight-seeing in Lucca and grabbing a quick lunch. Chris had found a little shop on his first trip there and we grabbed sandwiches there during each subsequent trip into the city.

Amelia went down for her nap, and my dad stayed home with her.

Chris and I went to a wonderful place - the Vespa museum:

This scooter is normal sized... Chris has shrunk:

A few more scooter shots:
