On the First Day of Christmas....

At the Roberts house, we had a tradition. "Santa" would visit us on the 12 days leading up to Christmas (Dec 14-25) and would leave a little thing in our stocking every day. It would be candy, small toys, an ornament... whatever.

It's a tradition that I've continued on with Chris, but on a smaller scale. We just do little surprises here and there, not the whole 12 days. With Amelia, same thing, but next year we'll start the full 12 days when she can understand it a bit more. It's just fun because it's not just the one day of racing out of bed to check for presents, it's 12 days! :)

So I'd been putting little things aside here and there for Chris and Amelia. On Saturday, I gave him his day-1 thing a day early, because it was scooter-related (a little pin). He, of course, panicked, because he has not really gotten into the Christmas mindset quite yet, thanks to work.

But while I was sleeping in on Sunday (Amelia is not feeling well, so she randomly slept until almost 9), Chris got to work on my first day of Christmas gift. He hung Christmas lights outside!! I was so hoping that we'd hang some, but with his semester ending so close to Christmas, I figured we'd never get around to it. It's simple, but so sweet.

At Amelia's sitter's house, she loves sitting next to a tub of little toys and pulling them out one by one and inspecting them. I keep forgetting to pick up a small tub, but she's got quite the little collection of little toys growing at home. On her first day of Christmas, she got a little race car.

Amelia is such a good little girl... she can play independently so well, as long as we stay in the room with her. Last night I was in my final push to finish Christmas wrapping/boxing/etc and I had all my stuff all spread around me, working so hard, and she was sitting there happily playing with all of her toys for like 2 hours!

She hates banana, likes apples (home pureed, only), is okay with avocado (try 1 = major puke fest; try 2 = ate it just fine}.... pears are next.
